They could be forced to sideload an app they need for work, for school, or for social inclusion if it is not made available on the App Store. Furthermore, cybercriminals and hackers may trick users into unknowingly sideloading an app by mimicking the appearance of the App Store, or by touting free or expanded access to services or exclusive features. TLDR there could be a safer store alternative.
HatchedLake 40 days ago root parent next [—]. This reminds me of the NSO and Apple's history of failing to cooperate with security researchers. If sideloading "were possible" and "forced upon users by schools and jobs" then I'd find it interesting that Android users by far haven't complained about this.
I used to use an Android device and never had anyone force or tell me to sideload an app that I didn't want to use myself. I've actually had to install more apps through the Play and App Store for my education and work. All this said - my current iPhone 6s will be derelict soon and replaced by a de-googled Android device in the future. Grepping App Store submissions seems obviously flawed.
That's not what is meant by private APIs. What you're linking to are entitlements. The APIs for these entitlements are very much public but will not yield a valid result if the entitlement is missing or the user hasn't provided access. Private APIs, on the other hand, will return valid results each time. However, they are often hidden behind actual public APIs. Internally, it then calls the function in frame 9.
Calling the function in frame 9 directly from within app code would be a private API violation. I don't believe checking at runtime if a private API call is made is practical. For one, I'm not sure how technically feasible it would be but worse, there would be a performance penalty accrued with every private API. More importantly, though, the app would already be out in the wild.
Compile-time and app review is really the only time to check. To the best of my knowledge, I'm not sure there's a way to force a private API call within Swift, particularly for classes that don't inherit from NSObject or are functions not tagged with objc.
Information extraction is a security issue, plain and simple. Smartphones are extremely bad here compared to platforms that allow sideloaded apps. Being dependent on one manufacturer is also a security issue. So I don't understand the security argument. Apps on shops probably don't contain malware, many of them exploit you legally. The software landscape outside of stores is far less prone to exploitation. Contrary to all the apps on the proprietary stores of smartphone manufacturers that never spy on people.
At no time did Apple state that there are zero apps in its store that violate its guidelines and spy on people. You're taking one side of an argument that doesn't exist. Too often in this debate, people think that pointing out that Apple isn't perfect somehow negates all of its legitimate arguments. It doesn't. Not even remotely. Why would the API of the device allow for spyware? What can any app do on an iPhone that will spy on me outside of that app?
And this is what these companies were doing publicly. Imagine if they had unrestricted access through other app stores? Data is the modern day gold rush, and it seems like every company has gold fever. I would be open to alternate app stores if and only if they were unable to circumvent MDM restrictions. At least that way you could protect company assets.
Personally I think sideloading on personal computing devices like smartphones should be mandated by law, and then the big brains at Apple can figure out how to make it secure.
While I don't ordinarily approve of whipping out the law hammer to solve every problem, this does provide a little food for thought. Instead of a gub'mint telling Apple "OK, you have to let there be an app store free-for-all right now" and Apple watching its work descend into chaos overnight, there could be a middle ground: "OK, you have to let there be an app store free-for-all in five years.
I'm only half-way through reading the Apple document, so maybe this is addressed later. Perhaps it might mean Apple has to slow down feature development, beef up its sandboxing, switch to memory safe languages like Swift, or do more to entice developers to its app store. All of these would be good outcomes. I'm fine with giving Apple a bit of a lead time here, but ultimately people should have the right to do whatever they want on their own personal computing devices.
I think Apple makes great products and skimming through the paper, I find this analysis to be on-target. But this is coming from an obviously biased source. As with most things in security, it's a trade-off between competing goals and principles.
I use an old android phone reflashed to e. I think all those threat modes are avoided by using it. I don't think it is safe for every user to do the same I did, but I'm glad I could do it. I think a reasonable solution would be something like a hardware seal that unlocked the bootloader once broken. If the vendor worries about how this may affect them, breaking the seal could also void device warranty. I'd gladly buy a second hand still powerful device, void its warranty and install whatever I wanted on it.
Granted, I've never submitted an app to the App store outside of work and I do have some serious reservations about how Apple runs the store, but I actually like the fact that the only way to slideload apps on the device is to jailbreak or compile and install the app yourself provided you sign up as an apple developer account.
I think the lack of officially sanctioned slideloading keeps the device simpler, and in my mind that's more secure. Every 7 days!! If we could compile and install apps without any limitations, we'd already have a competing app store that automates this for people.
I am maybe the anomaly in this crowd I also don't develop apps for iPhones but I appreciate the security benefits that Apple puts on people.
Sure it comes at a cost of "freedom" of applications that I could put on my phone, but it gives me a bit of piece of mind that my aging parents and my nieces and nephews are able to use the phone without downloading very risky applications I mean there are still risks abound, but it decreases it significantly. There are already enough security flaws that continue to be patched up on an on-going basis that it seems unnecessary to open this level of risk for their client base.
One less thing I need to worry about. It's a crime that this is free not that I'm complaining! The art style is really pretty and consistent. I love how each character has different eyebrows. And when I right click to open it and click open again it opens for a second and then disappears.
Open the game and the message you just had should appear. Once that is done click your lock to make changes. Apple will ask you for your apple password as safety precautions. Once that is do you should be able to play. I appreciate your help but sadly it didn't work. It's like it tries to open but then immediately closes, but thanks for your advice!
I managed to do that with some other games and it worked so thank you. Same it happened to me too. It also does that with most games it says are for Mac its super annoying. Ok ok. It's super easy. Is there any jumpscares or dark and disturbing moments? One time I played a disturbing game and woke up at 3Am terrified same for liar liar2. Two years ago humanity was near extinction because of a deadly viral outbreak.
Since then people are trying to live normal life but there is a group called 'Hunters' who are trying to take over everything. You must help the protagonist to complete all mission and stop Hunters within 45 days. There are three characters you have to manage, Isabel, Leona and Alexandria. Isabel is available from the beginning of the game.
Rest of the characters can be found during exploration. You must have first-aid kit for Leona and a cure for Alex to recruit them your team. You can assign tasks to a character by clicking their portrait on the board.
It open a schedule book. Select any of tasks from below. Health is reduced when your character is hurt during exploration or operations. Sometimes health is reduced overtime if your character is naked or infected Click on icon above the player to cure if you have a cure-shot. If your character is naked her health is reduced by 2 after each turn. Note:- Once their critical stats, ie, health, hunger and water has reached and stayed zero for some time, your character will be dead and can't be controlled for the rest of the game.
Your character can survive 2 days if hurt, 3 days without water and 7 days without food. Some mission are available after triggering some event during exploration. Mission consumes more energy than usual task. Some mission need your character to have certain items in their inventory. It can added or removed by clicking on the icon of the items.
Some missions have two possible scenarios, so items required for that mission may vary each time. Show log of a task performed by your character. You need to read the log as you may understand which Item is required for the mission. You can exchange or make new items in catalog menu. Some items are found during exploration only.
Photos are available for purchase only after certain events are triggered. You will get a notification once a photo is available for purchase.
You need credits to purchase photos. Credits can be earned by playing 'Butt Impact' game. Once the photos are purchase they can be view in 'My Drive'. You can set those as you background of your in-game computer. Use "W" and "D" to move up and down. Press "K" to fire projectiles. You can access cheats menu by clicking a button at the bottom right corner in pause menu.
Type in following codes in the text box and press ok. You will get access to the following files:. Log in with itch.
I built it earlier for a website that requires censorship and forgot to replace the sprites again. Just uploaded the correct version with uncensored sprites. There is no difference between v1. Hello, there is a guide. It should be able to help you with completing all missions. I tried to get a bad ending, but it doesn't trigger after those 45 Days. I even tried till Well, I thought there would be one after the 45 Days, when the Hunters should attack the town, but they never did and there was also no Game Over Screen.
That's why I was a bit surprised and thought it might be a Bug. Does the issue occurs after loading a save game or just playing through the entire game in one go? Maybe using the invincible cheat also has to do something with it, although I made sure to turn it off 2 days earlier, just in case. No keyboard inputs help and I am forced to close the program. Oddly, the cheat menu is still responsive.
I have also already deleted the aforementioned save data files. Otherwise fun game. Would recommend moving the "X" for closing out windows to the upper right, it would be far more intuitive. It could be because the game is not getting access to the save folder. Please try the file named 'SurviveMac. I have changed the save file location in that and also added a button so that if you click rest of the screen when the save window is active, it will close it. I haven't found any use for the Bow, Compass and Smartphone items.
Where are they used? The game is great but the way the hentai pictures are displayed kills the rhythm. Everytime we unlock a CG we have to go to computer and it takes a ton of time to navigate. It would be much more smooth if the CGs were shown by clicking on a picture when you read the story. Minigame to unlock CGs was super boring.
Apart from that, great gameplay, stories and amazing art. I wanted to display the image on screen once a event is triggered but again I didn't have any idea how would I complete that feat. The picture mechanics and minigames were carried from a game I cancelled before HTA.
Well I will definitely plan such feature from the beginning. I noticed that I am unable to preform any actions in the game. Exploring, doing operations, nothing works, it just turns red as if it were highlighted. Maybe I'm missing something, but im very confused. You can just use some random numbers like , , etc. This way people can use multiple mods that change these files.
Very cool, thank you. Should I use the same trivia types that are already there or is it unimportant? What do they do if anything? You can't add new types. Hello sadambober, it's me again. Are we on a first name basis yet?
Feels like we should be after so much back and forth. Anyway, I've come across a bug during my awards sequence, and I'm only posting about it here because I'm not sure if that was my doing or if it's something with the game itself instead of my translation would be surprised if this were the case. I blame it on Boris, he looks suspicious. When I click in order to go to the next line of dialogue during the awards, nothing happens. Then, I click again, and it skips to the next line.
Since I'm pretty sure the characters. I even used Sublime Text to see if there were any errors in the code, but I got nothing. I swear to god that if I'm responsible for this, I'm doubling all of my idols' salaries.
I just tried to play it with your translation and everything worked fine, no errors or skipped lines. Have you fixed vars. It's either that or something else you've done after sending it to me. Okay, I admit defeat - partially. I could have sworn I had fixed vars. Either that, or Boris is sabotaging me.
Hello, I am trying to make a mod but I am not sure if it is possible. I am pretty new to modding and its my first mod on this game. What I am trying to do is to add "unique" characters to the game, alongside the randomly generated ones.
For example, I want to make a list of unique characters in the game, possibly with their own ratings and stats as well.
I also want to give them unique images instead of the randomly generated ones, like for instance, if I had Irene from Red Velvet as a unique character, then she would have a picture of Irene instead of the generated portraits.
These unique characters would then be obtainable through auditions and would have unique stats. Basically, I just want to know how to add unique characters and add images to them, while still keeping the other generated characters. To make a static portrait, you can have the entire portrait in body.
You can set the name that will always be used with this portrait in params. I was wondering if there is a way for me to change "Group Name" to "Company Name" when starting the game? I would like to change the focus of the game from immediate promotion to preparation of your idols.
So I would essentially like to be able to name the company, and then also debut groups within the company umbrella. I plan to use the modding tool to make story elements that focus on your idols and their trainee process and debuting. But I just have to get around the fact that they start immediately as a member of your first group somehow Possibly have a group called "Trainees" that every Idol is put in automatically, and then create your first group through the "second" group menu?
Would just have to get rid of the 10 Idol requirement to form new groups? That should work in theory. If it doesn't, then that's a bug and I'll fix it. You might also have to restart the game after enabling the mod for it to work, I'm not sure. I am thinking of adding albums to my gameplay. I was thinking of it working similarly to the Concert. Like the page opens and I get to name the album, add the songs I want singles produced that I won't release as solo singles, so I have to produce a LOT of singles , and I choose the concept and price.
Then sell it. Do I need to change the Constants file or do something else? Could you explain it to me, if it's not too hard? Pretty sure it is but you know, I wanna try it anyways You'd have to do some pretty hardcore stuff to make something like this, our built-in tools won't be enough. Could you tell me what I have to change to create more than one sister groups without getting more idols? I'm currently trying to add custom portraits to my game, but I am having trouble finding the "IdolPortraits" folder in my data files and game files.
The closest I have gotten to seeing the idols files is from the cache folder from my game folder. I wanted to see all the idol assets so I can get inspirations and bases for my own portraits. I'm working on an event that, depending on the player's choice and the outcome, could repeat itself in the future or not. In order to do that, I created a variable called 'goodcoffee', where 'true' means the event will not pop up again, and 'false' means it can reappear in the future.
Or will it just assume the variable doesn't exist and never trigger the event in the first place? How could I go about achieving my goals by working with the variables in case that doesn't work? Additionally, I'd like to ask if it'd be possible to add room conditions to the mod editor, such as 'If player has a break room, this event can be triggered'.
And while I'm at it, I'd like to know what that 'Custom' event condition is for. It's not mentioned anywhere in the guide. When you trigger an event manually, event conditions are ignored. Actor conditions still get checked though, but not if you used "Trigger Event Same Actor ".
But "goodcoffee! Don't forget you can also add variables to idols. For example, you can add variable "coffee" to an idol when the first event get triggered. Then in some other event you may or may not add "goodcoffee" to the same idol. And in actor requirements of a third event you set that an actor should have "coffee" but not "!
I think custom conditions don't actually work for events right now, only for dialogues. One last question: how do you figure out the parameters for the idol's small icon in params. Portrait size should be x Add a x square where the small icon should be and count pixels from left and top:. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but for custom portraits, how do we know if they're in the game? Do you keep doing auditions or stuff like that until they show up? You can add it to your mod to remove all default portraits from the game.
But keep in mind that your old save files probably won't work when this mod is enabled because of idols in your group that use default portraits. Seeing those new triggers that got added to the editor has got me very excited to work on more events and dialogues. However, I had been thinking about a couple of scenarios I couldn't work on because of the tool's limitations, and when I saw the new 'DateTime' variable, I thought I finally had the means to get where I wanted to get with my creations.
Unfortunately for me, 'DateTime' is limited to weekend, weekdays and seasons. Something as simple as picking a day of the year would already be huge, since we could get really specific with special dates like Christmas and New Years, but being able to set a specific day of the week e.
Also, I would like to know if some of the legacy triggers will be reimplemented in a usable way in the future. Some of those are just what I needed for some scenarios I had in mind. For the legacy ones - you can only use them for events, not dialogues. Also, this is not implemented in the editor, but you can actually check for any policy, not just dating.
You'd have to look up policy IDs in policies. Are those correct? Also, a bug I just came across: the dropdown menu for adding story characters as actors on a dialogue seems to be broken.
No options appear when I click on 'Character'. Additionally, do you plan on making dialogue background images, music, SFX and all that stuff available as loose files? Since most of the game's files are now bundled, it definitely makes it harder to determine how the 'Bittersweet' track sounds, for example.
Idols either have a variable, or not. You should be able to use "Injury" in dialogues. You can leave the formula field empty. That way, we could have specific events for idols with specific traits. But, since the position of the face is different in each image, I am having trouble setting the small-face-icon x I prepared a PNG of x, placed the image for small-face-icon outside the display range, and specified the position in params. This attempt failed. Hi, you can try having a 1x1px blank. It's worked for other modders in the past, might work for you too.
I'll try to add an option to set different "left" and "top" for each dress. I first decided to make a mod for the game. I want to add my idols and accessories to them. The manual says "Easiest way to create a new portrait is to copy one of the default ones and edit it:.
This requires that you have the game on Steam, but you should have access to a complimentary Steam key for the game if you bought the game on itch.
Hey there! I've been really loving the game so far and have been playing around with my own mods. I was busy creating an unique idol and was wondering if it's possible at the moment to give them custom trivia?
How work the Faces in the idol portrait? Is it only for generating random idols or is it possible to associate faces to emotions? How to change the game CG and BG? I can't find the original textures. I only have the random event illustrations. I'm making an event right now, and in event A, I'm going to choose an idol that fits the criteria.
You can try adding a custom varibale to the idol you want to use in both events so she'll always be picked. You could also create another custom variable to try and stop the game from triggering Event A again. I'm sorry, but is it possible to modify the sound effects? I don't think there's an easy way to do that as of yet, the only audio you can change in the game is the song that plays in the background during gameplay.
Thank you for your answer. I'm sad there's no way. I tried to modify the assembly with unity, but I gave up because it was too difficult for a beginner. I'll have to wait until the relevant editor or mode guide comes out It simply means that, if you wanna add a custom sound effect to your dialogue, and you name the sound file sound. So if you write sound. Let me know if it does, by the way ;. However, when I place actors in "Actors Setup", the prepared image disappears as soon as it is displayed.
I am writing to express my thanks for bringing Idol Manager to us. I am too enthusiastic about the game I hope it thriving.
